Lunch-Buddies is ROMP's peer mentoring program. High school students who meet high academic standards are trained and matched with younger elementary students.
The pairs meet weekly as a group in the Community Center under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. Matches last throughout the school year.
The pairs participate in sports activities, creative projects and indoor and outdoor games.
Peer mentoring benefits both mentors and the mentees: high school mentors gain experience working with young children, especially benefiting those interested in careers such as teaching, coaching, social work, etc. The younger students develop social skills and confidence as they participate in relationship building activities with their 'big buddies.'
